Goole Gymnastics Club
Goole Gymnastics Club

How we started

Goole Gymnastics Club began at Boothferry Leisure Centre in Goole on the second Saturday of February 1983.

There were only 12 gymnasts on the mats, two of those originals are now leading coaches at the Club.

The first display by the Club was at Snaith School during the summer 1983 and was followed the following year by several more at fetes and galas around the area. This activity has become a feature of the Club.

The first competition was during 1984, very soon after the asymmetric bars had been purchased. The team travelled to Scarborough and competed against the Goldcrest team at the Graham School. Not a good result for Goole, but the start of a long competition history with many successes.

After fifteen years at the Leisure Centre, the Club had become independent and moved to the present facility in First Avenue. This gave the opportunity to build up the equipment, changing it to become the superior set-up which is in use today.
